CHARTERS TOWERS MARKET REPORT

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1144 Cattle.  Consisting of 495 Prime Cattle and 649 Store Cattle.  Prime Cattle yarded – 233 Bullocks, 2 Heifers, 223 Cows and 37 Bulls.  Store Cattle yarded – 375 Steers, 237 Heifers, 22 Mickey Bulls, and 15 Cows & Calves.

 

Prime Quotes:

Prime Cattle consisted of two good lines of finished Bullocks with mixed quality pens of Cows yarded. The yarding was drawn from Mt Garnet, Mt Surprise, Forsayth, Ayr, Hughenden, Local and Coastal areas.

Bullocks were 1-2¢ easier, Heifers were 1-2¢ dearer and Cows sold to similar rates as last sale.

  • Bullocks topped at 169.2¢/kg, for 12 - 60 day grain fed Droughtmaster Bullocks, sold on A/c Atkinson Past Co Pty Ltd, “Katandra”, Hughenden weighing 606kg to return $1025 per head.
  • Top priced Trade Heifers were presented on A/c Anita Russell, “Plain Creek’, Charters Towers, making 144.2¢/kg to weigh 428kg & return $616 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows were sold by BG & M Christensen, “Jesmond Station”, Charters Towers, for 141.2¢/kg, weighed 566kg to return $799 per head.          
  • Bulls sold on A/c BW & MI Landsberg, “Homeview”, Charters Towers, topped at 134.2¢/kg and weighed 558kg to return $748 per head.

 

 

Store Quotes:

Store Cattle were overall dearer for all lines of Steers, Heifers and Cows & Calves, with younger Steers improving in value the most by up to 10¢/kg and Heifers from 5¢ to 8¢.

  • A pen of 14 Steers, A/c Townsville Earthmoving, “Rocky Bend”, Townsville, made 192.2¢/kg, weighed 120kg and realised $230 per head.
  • A good pen of 17 Heifers sold on A/c RJ & HM Van Damme, “Iron Bark”, Oak Valley, made 159.2¢/kg, weighed 201kg & returned a good average of $320 per head.

·        Cows & Calves sold on A/c Anita Russell, “Plain Creek”, Charters Towers returned $500 per unit.
