What's going on? With the recent release of the national figures it seems that we have one of the best economies in the world. While other economies are wallowing in the grasp of recession our economy is accelerating . Interest rates may have risen by 25 points this week ,but the employment figures show that the economy is going ahead. The Real Estate Institute of Queensland have also just released the figures for last quarter and last financial year. The most important of these for our area are that median house prices for the district as a whole have increased in the last quarter. With 3 of the 5 largest increases for the year being "satellite" suburbs of Toowoomba. Kingsthorpe led the way with an 11.4% increase for the 08/09 year. The final factor in play right now is the extreme shortage of properties on the market at the moment. Property owners have adopted a wait and see attitude in regards to the economic downturn and this has in part maintained prices through simple supply and demand. What does all this mean for you?
